About Me

My work is eclectic and flexible, and is rooted in a twenty year journey into various growth, healing and human potential modalities. I have a Diploma in Emotional Therapeutic Counselling and am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society. I have regular supervision, and am fully insured.

Emotional Therapeutic Counselling is a creative talk-based therapy which helps you to make sense of and resolve emotions and patterns behind current difficulties in order to enable real and lasting changes in yourself, your relationships and your life. It is a humanistic and person-centred therapy, meaning that I won’t ‘diagnose’ you, or try to tell you what’s wrong with you, but will aim to encourage and support you to come to your own understanding and move towards wellbeing, wholeness and growth. Many people have found that ETC has helped them with a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship and communication issues, anger, abuse, bullying, trauma etc.

ETC is both creative and pragmatic. There is space for open-ended discussion and exploration in which you can unfold at you own pace, and also, if you wish, creative exercises to help you focus on and make sense of your experience.

Embodied Approaches

Increasingly is is being realised that including the body in therapy can make things go much more quickly and effectively. Allowing the body to fully feel, express and tell its story can bypass the 'stuck record' of thoughts, beliefs and words and enable you to let go of the past and open up to new experiences and ways of being. If you wish I can support you in the sessions to move, vocalise and express, to let go of past hurt and trauma, and to gently support you to open into new ways of being and experiencing yourself.

My approach to embodied therapy is based on the ‘body listening’ approach which I learned with Tim Brown at the Brighton School of Embodied Therapy.  I am also a qualified Alexander Technique teacher and bring the awareness and sensitivity developed in that training into any hands-on work I do with clients. I am also a licensed Dance of Awareness facilitator.

Special areas of interest

I work with a wide range of clients and issues, and have a particular interest in high sensitivity (Highly Sensitive People/HSP), introverts and being happily introverted, shyness, confidence and low-self esteem.
